Beautiful Dothan, Alabama

Located just a few miles from the Florida state line, Dothan Alabama offers better weather with fewer storms, a much lower cost of living, affordable housing and more recreational opportunities. It is a unique city full of amenities and services that still manages to maintain the small town feel. But more appealing than anything else, its southern hospitality is always present. At Stone Creek Landing, neighbor's are more than just the people that live next door.

Why you should move to Dothan, Alabama

Weather.  The sun shines on Dothan an average of 227 days a year, with a mean temperature of 72.8* F. The Wiregrass Area still experiences a change in seasons, but with an average high of 60*F in January, winter doesn’t last for long!

Cost of Living. Dothan has a small town feel and cost of living while providing all of the amenities of larger cities. With a cost of living 18% below the national average, residents of Dothan can make their dollar go further. Taxes and insurance are both incredibly affordable, a stark contrast to the state of Florida just 13 miles south. Located nearly 80 miles inland, we are out of the hurricane zone which has severely affected those living closer to the ocean.

Stable Home Prices   There are a number of reasons why people find the city of Dothan so attractive as a place to live, with one of the largest being quality of life. These qualities have led to steadily increasing population over the last 20 years. Home prices have appreciated along with the population growth, rising at 9.2% last year. The stability of the local economy and home prices make it easy to obtain financing and buy or sell homes.

Travel Located less than 15 minutes away, the Dothan Regional Airport serves Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, providing connecting flights to all over the country. The brand new Panama City-Bay County International Airport relocation project will be complete in the 1st quarter of 2010, bringing national and international accessibility to just a little over an hours travel of Dothan with the nation's first new airport in over a decade.

Beaches.  Some of the best beaches in Florida are located in the Panhandle, and with Destin and Panama City Beach less than two hours away it’s easy to have those beach day getaways.

Entertainment. Country Crossing is making headlines all over the US after the project recently broke ground, as a host of big name country stars have signed on to play at this large scale entertainment center that will be just ten minutes from Stone Creek Landing. The initial investment, according to developers, is expected to be in the $250-300 million range over the next few years. Country Crossing will feature something for everyone but will be centered around the Little Nashville District of performance venues for country music stars. The development plans also entail resort hotels, celebrity themed venues, a theme park, a large bingo hall, and numerous retail opportunities. Described as the next Branson, MO, Country Crossing’s artist lineup and geographical location will ensure that it will far outshine the city it is currently projected to emulate. The developers anticipate a Grand Opening in Fall of '09.

Recreation. The city recently selected a location for what will become the James O. Oates Park. Originally titled the “southwest park”, the park entrance is approximately half a mile from our community on Taylor Road. There will be walking paths, soccer and baseball fields, a nature preserve, and a $7.5 million dollar activity center. The activity center is high on Dothan's list of priorities and construction at the park is scheduled to begin sometime in 2009.
